Like most high-fantasy role-playing games, Lost Ark's universe doesn't make much sense when players apply real-world considerations to it. The most egregious of them is the fact that the character models consistently use unrealistically large weapons as if they were ordinary hand tools. Naturally, the concept is not new to Lost Ark.
It has its share of unrealistic weapons that are either difficult to use or have no real place in the game's universe due to the mythology around them. While their numbers may make them alluring, one must wonder about their practicality and utility in battle. It's just too much of a stretch to believe that certain kinds of weapons can actually exist in their respective categories.
Greatsword
Typically seen in every role-playing game, this legendary blade stands above all others. In Lost Ark, though, it appears more like a man-sized shield than a weapon capable of cutting and slashing. The Berserker is the Lost Ark melee class par excellence, and this weapon was forged for them. It stands to reason that Berserkers would have access to the most intimidating weapon available. You can use Lost Ark gold to buy these weapons.
The spectator of Lost Ark, however, cannot but but wonder how realistic some of the Greatsword drawings actually are. When compared to the smaller melee weapons, they move at a slower pace in the game, and only Monster Hunter has greatswords this outlandish.
Harp
In a world where dungeon crawling and fighting massive enemies is commonplace, a musical instrument may seem like an odd choice. Fortunately, the game Lost Ark leans heavily on fantasy, thus using a Harp as a weapon doesn't feel too out of place. Aside from that, its legitimacy is quite doubtful. This is the equivalent of a new type of weapon being added for the purpose of variety, with the backstory added later. After all, we can probably guess what sort of person will be playing the harp. This is a Bard, and it has healing abilities. It has been discovered that music and other forms of gentle sound can have a therapeutic effect. That's why harpists are classified as support characters. Everyone needs them, yet nobody wants to play as them, as is the case with many support classes. Because of this, the weapon is not just useless in retrospect but also in terms of how players actually use it.
Gloves that Reflect Light
The Light Gauntlets shouldn't even be considered weapons! Arm guards are a form of armor worn on the upper arms to improve a wearer's grasp on their weapons; rarely have they been used to kill someone with a swift fist blow. As a result, the idea that gauntlets alone can be employed in combat is extremely fantastical, if not completely out of the scope of awesomeness in role-playing games.
So, it's understandable to overlook the Striker and Wardancer's weapon mismanagement (no pun intended). They choose a weapon with a shorter melee range than the others available, despite the game's deep and weighty background. As an added downside, large targets are no match for weapons with short or dull blades.
Protective Gloves
The Scrapper class in Lost Ark makes more informed decisions about their weapons. The Scrappers choose the Heavy Gauntlets instead of the Striker and Wardancer. Despite their intimidating appearance, they are not as fast in combos as Light Gauntlets and have the worst melee range available.
